1 | Satan? | Matt 25:41 | Ginger G | 186116 | ||
Dear Tim, Who IS the ruler of hell? Does this scripture describe Satan? 11Over them as king they have the angel of the Abyss (of the bottomless pit). In Hebrew his name is Abaddon [destruction], but in Greek he is called Apollyon [destroyer].Rev 9:11? It says he is the King of Hell. Now, Jesus took the Keys of Death and Hell away from him...so he must have had power over it...rulership. If can go to heaven, why can't he go to hell? |

Hello Ginger G, Allow me to comment on a few points you made. I think it's always helpful to keep a discussion within the realm of what scripture actually says. In other words, use terms that the Bible itself uses. 1. Scripture does not name a "ruler of hell". In Matt. 12:24 for example, the Pharisees said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons" (NASB); 2. I'm not aware that scripture actually calls satan the "king of hell". What Rev. 9:11 says is, "They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon." (NASB); 3. It might be WOF teaching (erroneously) that, "Jesus took the Keys of Death and Hell away from him." However, what scripture says in Rev. 1:18 is ,"and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades" (NASB). It says nothing about Jesus "taking the keys away from him." He is both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36) and He has never relinquished His Sovereignty, Rule or Dominion! He is "the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." (Rev. 1:8- NASB) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
