What specifically do you, know to, that eeds to be fulfilled in scripture for Christ to return. I am not looking at a time or date, but what must be completed for Christ to come. An an example might be the moon to turn to blood or something you believe Biblically. Thank you. agape, justme |

2 | what needs to be done for Christ to come | Matt 24:14 | christlives1999 | 54361
justme, consider this: Matthew 24:14 The Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come. What is God's will? When we say in the Lord's Prayer, "thy will be done thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven what are we saying? Well we know what the Lord is not willing: The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Pet 3:9 The Lord will have his Gospel of the Kingdom preached to all nations because he wishes for all to come to repentance. Now also consider this: Eph 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. Now this passage tells us why Christ died: he gave himself for the church. when christ comes back he is coming back for the church. a church full of glory, not having spot or wrinkle, and being blameless. 2 Pet 3 speaks of the coming day of the Lord and in verses 11-12 it is stated: Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! This passage indicates that the coming day of God can be hurried or hastened (speudo) by holy conduct and looking for the coming of Christ, (mind you the church has nothing like holy conduct at the present day) so my answer is this: the kingdom of God and his Christ must be preached to all nations before the end will come, but the gospel will not be preached to all nations without a sanctified church, my prayer is Jesus purify your bride so the word gets out, and then come and get us, a glorious bride without spot or wrinkle. christlives1999 |

3 | what needs to be done for Christ to come | Matt 24:14 | justme | 54365
That is a good point. I am not sure we cah hurry God up. I believe God the Father is the only one who knows, and nothing will change Gods plans . If the Church won't do it Then God cannhave te rock scry out. I am still looking for something very specfic some one believes is holdibg what yet needs to be fulfilled, much likeyours, but perhaps something very specfic. Thank you. agape, justme |

4 | well then let iron sharpen iron | Matt 24:14 | christlives1999 | 54368
I respect that. I am interested in what way I might have been more specific. I am also interested in the subject and I guess I didn't understand what you meant by specific, were you speaking of a future prophecy that will be fufilled or something like that? and to spur on discussion, what then does the statement mean,"looking for and HASTENING the coming of the day of God"? If I am wrong in reading that it indeed does mean hurrying I wish to be corrected. Prov 3:12 For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. I am completely open to correction. |

christlives1999: I looked at your profile, and Welcome to the Forum! I encourage to say something about your self so we have a better Idea who and what your interests are. Look up mine and others and you will learn more of what you might wantto say. I change mine from time to time to sorta keep it from going stale. Your question in return caused me to do some research. With books all over my desk, I came to the conclusion, that's a good question! I looked at a whole section and not just the verse by it;s self. That way we get a better and wider scope of what's being said. Now at this point I am thinking the HASTENING in 2 Peter 3:12 any include the idea od a time of "refreshing may come from the Lord." The EXPOSITORS BIBLE COMMENTARY by Edwin A. Blum 1981 page 287 by Zondervan Publishing House. Volume 12. After reading that and the NIV, and NASB I would say this is one of these I need further study things. Right now I feel it is refering to hastening the time of repentance, and return to piety. At least that is my inital thinking at present. How do you think? Could this possible mean what I seem to have dug out of it? I am not saying you are wrong at all, I just like to see if there are ways of seeing things in a nother light that no one has ever looked at it that way before. Correction is not a glory to give or receive, but a blessing if new growth tahes place. My Father delights in me quite often. In order to delight is such special attention a greatfull attitude is required of me, which at times I am stubborn. I am interested in ways that others believe certian events must take place for Christ to return My son and I were talking the other day and he had a customer who was pretty off in my theological view point. He was rather confused and he too had the thinking there were things preventing Christ's return. So I wanted to see what others thought about it as well. At this time I see no reason for His return not to take place, except theFathers Mercy and Grace not wanting anyone to perrish. Again, that's how I understand scripture and I would be open to learn as much as my gray matter can hold. agape, Justme |

6 | well then let iron sharpen iron | Matt 24:14 | Robert Nicholson | 54412
Justme In Acts 1 we read about the Lord Jesus taken up into heaven. His loved ones were wondering when he would set up his kingdom. The risen Christ made it clear to them that this time was in his father's care. No matter how much we try to speculate on various world events we will never know until the promise given to his disciples is fulfilled. Think of them as they stared upward as their is taken up and are given this message "Ye men of Galilee why stand gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus which is taken up from your into heaven, shall come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven" Acts 1:11 I believe all who belong to Christ look forward to that day when he will come. However, we may suffer much before that time will come. In the meanwhile we are to watch expectantly for him as we labor for him. As a father and grandfather it is my desire that loved ones will come to Christ will there is still opportunity. The most tragic thing is for a person who is in a place of opportunity to miss Christ. God bless you Robert |
