1 | what is the meaning of the fig tree | Matt 21:18 | fran1947 | 78985
concerning the fig tree. there are many significate meanings of the parable of the fig tree, but here Jesus used it to show the condition of Israel. He came to the nation His nation expecting fruit. Leaves of the religious formalism He found in abundance, but the fruit of holiness was lacking. He was hungry for the salvation of the people but crucifying Him, they told Him to save Himself. Thus in is "strange act" he rejected the tree. Isaia 28:21.
2 | what is the meaning of the fig tree | Matt 21:18 | CLAUDE2000 | 79927
The Fig tree always (or almost always represents ISRAEL) I agree with the above note, but would like to add, that another clue, is MATT 24, "When you see the leaves on the FIG TREE you know that summer is near" This means that when the spiritual condition of Isreal begins to blossom ( like the dry bones in EZEK) - pack your bags !
