1 | Omission of Matthew 18:11 | Matt 18:11 | deacon art | 131294
It appears that this question on the omission of Matthew 18:11 has come up before. However, it doesn't seem that a favorable answer was given. Does anyone have a reason other than "translation" or "version?" Could it be intentional? If so, why?
2 | Omission of Matthew 18:11 | Matt 18:11 | Ray | 131304
Hi deacon art, Welcome to the forum. I believe that where pronouns and phrases have been omitted from the manuscripts are where the believers have had discussions before. They could not agree evidently. Personally, I include Matthew 18:11 because I have found in my personal study, (still in process and in pencil) a comparison of Matthew 18:11 with Matthew 17:22. Matthew 17:22, "And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of (Man) is going to be delivered into the hands of men;..." Matthew 18:2, "And He called a child to (Himself) and set him before them,..." Matthew 18:11, "For the Son of (Man) has come to save that which was lost." The parentheses are mine for comparison. The discussion, I believe was about this (t)Teacher. From the heart, Ray |

3 | Omission of Matthew 18:11 | Matt 18:11 | deacon art | 131334
Thank you Emmaus and Ray for your reply. A member of my congregation brought this question to my attention. Obviously, I have not been a careful reader/student of the bible using primarily the NRSV, NIV and a "Life Application Bible," New Living Translation. I am very pleased to have found this site for questions as I study God's Word.
