1 | Who Holds the Key to Church's Survival? | Matt 16:18 | Hank | 176828
"Since the time of Christ, the church's survival has depended upon its ability to successfully communicate the gospel to the next generation." ..... This was the lead-off statement in an e-mail advertisement I received today from a popular vendor of religious literature. Please critque the statement in light of what the Bible teaches about the church, the body of Christ. Does the statement seem to place the perpetuity of the church in man's hands or in God's? Is the statement scripturally sound? ..... In keeping with the guidelines of SBF, please back up your answers with Bible references. --Hank
2 | Who Holds the Key to Church's Survival? | Matt 16:18 | Morant61 | 176829
Greetings Hank! I would say that the above statement is totally unbiblical. Mt. 16:18 says, "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." The church's 'survival' is assured in Christ, Who alone builds His Church. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
