They will be held more accountable than the Gentile cities because Jesus came to them doing mighty worksa and showing them the way of righteousness and even lived in Capernum, but they were ultimately unresponsive to his call, even though they may have accepted him briefly. See Isaiah 14:13-15 and Peter 2:20-22 |

Thankyou, I understand the concept of what Jesus is saying, but am looking for more specific information on what were the sins of the cities of Tyer and Sidon and where these two were located geographically? I read the two references you gave and they did not answer that question. Any more specific information to answer my two questions? Chusarcik | ||||||

Try these two links for maps. Tyre and Sidon were on the Mediteranean Coast of Plestine, Sidon about 25 miles north of Tyre. Sidon remained Cannanite after the Israelite settlement (Judges 1:31). They are examples of deep seated paganism that Jesus implies would have been converted if they had received the ministry He performed in the cities of Gallilee and therefore they will be more favorably treated in the judgement. See Jeremiah 25:22; Ezek 27:8; Is 23:2,4; Jer 47:4; Ezek 28:20-23; Zech 9:2; Joel 4:4. |
