1 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | sparkman | 94621
I firmly believe that we are not under the law and as New Testement believers are not required to tithe. However many churches yet preach tithing and that we are under a curse if we do not tithe. How can this be, especially when it is plainly stated in scripture? Why is there so much confusion.
2 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | New Creature | 94626
Dear sparkman Let me answer your question with a question. If no one tithed, then how would you expect a preacher to live, raise his family, feed, and clothe them. etc. etc? Would you prefer that he find a secular employment? Scripture says: 1 Cor. 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 3 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | DarcyA | 94628
I personally don't thithe. I give with a cheerful heart cf 2 Cor 9:7. I do however take 10 percent of the top. The titheing message that a lot of people teach today I feel is wrong. It is like you are forced to or its a law you must abide to. That is not true in the new testament. We are to give cheerfully. Jesus preached this through out his minisrty. We are to be blessed in giving so I do like what the pastor at my church says "If you are not blessed don't give. And is you don't give chearfully keep your money, God doesn't need your money He is God." Preachers who preach you must tithe and give 10 persent is putting legalism in the church. At least that is what I believe. |

4 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | New Creature | 94637
Dear DarcyA you stated; "We are to be blessed in giving so I do like what the pastor at my church says "If you are not blessed don't give." The trouble I have which such a statement as that is: It conveys the message that I will only give if I am blessed in return. It places a condition on our giving. And by using that logic an individaul could say: Lord, I am going to stop giving because I haven't personally noticed you giving me any blessings in return lately. Are you merely giving for what you can get? It's true that God doesn't need our money. The reason why God loves a cheerful giver, is because our giving is evidence of our recognition that all we have comes from God. He owns it all. 1 Chr. 29:12 Both riches and honour come of thee 1 Chr. 29:14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee Deut. 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, Finally God desires that we give willingly, and cheerfully. The man who does this will as a result receive blessings. But the main motive of our giving should not be, to see what we can get back in return. I hope your not thinking that way. There are wrong motives that can be attached to giving In His service New Creature |

5 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | DarcyA | 94639
Blessed- Happy I do agree that we can give for the wrong reason. But I also believe that we can expect God to provide our needs (Gen. 22:14; Matt. 7:11; 6:25-33) |
