NASB | Leviticus 27:30 ¶ 'Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S; it is holy to the LORD. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Leviticus 27:30 ¶ 'And all the tithe (tenth part) of the land, whether the seed of the land or the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S; it is holy to the LORD. [1 Cor 9:11; Gal 6:6] |
Bible Question: I firmly believe that we are not under the law and as New Testement believers are not required to tithe. However many churches yet preach tithing and that we are under a curse if we do not tithe. How can this be, especially when it is plainly stated in scripture? Why is there so much confusion. |
Bible Answer: Tithing is not a requirement - it is an honor. In fact, giving a mere 10 percent doesn't give God the credit He deserves for providing work for us and for what His work on the cross did for us. Many people try to justify their greed by claiming the 'old covenant' argument (not saying that is what you are doing) that we don't have to b/c the law has been fulfilled - tight wads all of them. They aren't under a curse or anything but they just don't understand what a real joy it is to give back to the One who gave all to us. |
