1 | Do homosexual tendencys constitute sin? | Lev 20:13 | mark d seyler | 185089
Hi Hobbs, I would suggest that homosexual impulses might not constitute sin, and if this is what you mean, I would agree with you, as that would more be what Tim was describing as the "internal temptation". But there is the matter of "evil desires". Col 3:5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. I see this in the same way that Jesus taught that to look upon a woman with desire is the same as committing adultery. I think the distinction is if you have the impulse, that is a matter of temptation, but if you nurture the impulse, that is a matter of sin. These are my thoughts, at least. . . 2 | Do homosexual tendencys constitute sin? | Lev 20:13 | hobbs | 185090
Thanks for your input Mark... The reason I posted my question is that I believe that certain sins are treated as especially egregious, not necessarily because the Bible sees them as such, but for politcal and cultural reasons. We all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. Therefore I believe it behooves us as christians to be meek and loving to all...keeping in mind that but for the grace of God...we might have found ourselves strugling against this terrible temptation. In my mind, Heterosexual sin is just as hard for most of us. Rom 2:1 Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. Hobbs |
