1 | What happened to incest? | Lev 18:6 | Neopatriarch | 189684
From the beginning Adam’s children married their siblings (ala "Who married Cain?"). When the Law came along they were forbidden to marry close relatives, specifically siblings.(Leviticus 20:17) So now that Christians are not “under the law”(Romans 6:14), and the New Testament doesn’t even explicitly mention the practice (as far as I remember, or can tell), are Christians Biblically forbidden to marry siblings? Please explain your answer through scripture. |

2 | What happened to incest? | Lev 18:6 | kalos | 189685
Are Christians Biblically forbidden to marry siblings? Yes, Christians are biblically forbidden to marry siblings. "In the 18th chapter of Leviticus, the Bible provides a lengthy list of forbidden relationships. These laws are the scriptural definition of sexual impurity... "Some would argue that these are all Old Testament references. That is correct. The reason for this is that the New Testament does not specifically address the rules of sexual misconduct, with the exception of fornication, other than to refer you back to the Old Testament laws." 3 | I need a NT verse... | Lev 18:6 | Neopatriarch | 189891
OK, then it is fair to say that the moral aspects of the Law still reflect the will of God on such matters. So then is there a good NT reference that expresses this idea? |

4 | I need a NT verse... | Lev 18:6 | rzacc | 189892
Howdy. May I express my view on this? I know of no such reference. The dividing of the law into it's three components is unbiblical, and was not done, from what I understand, until the Roman Church. It is always expressed as a unit: the Law. One can not even accurately draw a line between the components within the law itself. I believe that you are leading yourself down a very confusing pathway. It is much safer to just take Romans 5-6 for what it says (and Galatians, Heb 8, etc. also). then build another Covenant understanding from the New Testament. Both covenants are built upon the same foundation: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself. From that point, they diverge. Best to you. rzacc |

Ok, but then take a stab at the initial question titled, "What happened to incest?"
6 | I need a NT verse... | Lev 18:6 | rzacc | 189925
Hu? What happened to incest? When? Where? Who? How? Why? I guess it was condemned on the cross with all other sins, in the flesh of Christ. rz ps: Are you asking why it is not specifically condemned in the New Testament?? I can answer that, I believe. In the New Testament, we operate not by a list of rules, but by means of a relationship with the God who is the author of all. We have His Spirit living within us. We are dead to the law, which was never kept, even under the old system. Morality is still morality, but we do not need a set of rules on the church door to guide us..we have the Lord of Glory living within us. Actually, we are freed from the law IN ORDER THAT we might bear fruit to God!!" Romans 7:4. No fruit to God (holiness) while law is still in place! Only condemnation. What an interesting and life changing topic. May the Lord of Glory Bless you beyond measure as you struggle with His word and then apply it to your own life, to His Glory. Ad Coram Deo, ronz Faith is not believing that God can save me, it is Knowing that He DID! |
