1 | Why Do We Stand Aloof ... or Not? | Obad 1:11 | Searcher56 | 229599 | ||
I am preparing for my Sunday School lesson. As I read Obadiah 1:11, I see Edom stood aloof when strangers carried off Judah wealth. I thought about the Good Samaritan (Luk 10:25-37), where a priest and then a Levite come by, but both avoided the man … but the Samaritan took action. Are there other Biblical examples where the unexpected happened either taking no action or taking action? Also, why don't we help our neighbor ... from saving thier life, even to our peril ... to giving directions to one who seems lost? Searcher |

Okay ... I have a couple ... let me know if you agree or not. -David to Mephibosheth (2 Sam 9). While it was motivated by David's love for Jonathan (and their covenant) (1Sa 18:1-3, 20:41-42; 2Sa 1:25-26). -Jonathan to David (1Sa 20). David was THE threat to the throne, which Jonathan was in line for. -Naaman's wife's servant girl and Naaman (2Ki 5:3). Another example of an unnamed person, mentioned in only one verse, who made an impact (2Ki 5). -The father of the Prodigal Son and his younger son (Luk 5:20-32). Love is the motivation ... it probably was not normal, then or even now. Searcher |
