1 | God spoke to Moses..."I am Yahweh." | Ex 6:2 | kalos | 141648
God spoke to Moses..."I am Yahweh." If we take care of the PROPER NOUN for the true name of God, YHWH, and for the title of Jesus, Messiah, then the PRONOUNS will take care of themselves. If not, we may find ourselves straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel. Ex 3:15 HCSB God also said to Moses, "Say this to the Israelites: Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever; this is how I am to be remembered in every generation." Ex 6:2 HCSB Then God spoke to Moses, telling him, "I am Yahweh." Ex 15:3 HCSB The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is His name. Ex 34:5 HCSB The Lord came down in a cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed [His] name Yahweh. De 7:9a HCSB Know that Yahweh your God is God... Mt 1:16 HCSB and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, who gave birth to Jesus who is called the Messiah. Lu 9:20 HCSB "But you," He asked them, "who do you say that I am?"Peter answered, "God's Messiah!" |

2 | God spoke to Moses..."I am Yahweh." | Ex 6:2 | EdB | 141739
Kalos You use a name with the vowels in Yahweh. How do you know they are at the right place? :-) Hebrew is recorded without the vowels and you had to know to the pronunciation to properly apply them. Since no Jew would say the word YHWH how do you know you have the right vowels in the right place? What your actually using for the name of God is what Tyndale suggested many years ago (1500’s) He took the tetragram YHWH and added the vowels from Adonai and came up with Yahweh. Laws of language at the time dictated you pronounce Y as J and W as V. Thus coming up with Jehovah. We have no idea in the world how to say YHWH. Therefore we have two choices either use the word God or call Him what God himself said would be his name forever. Exodus 3:15 (NKJV) Moreover God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: 'The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.' EdB |

No, I personally do not use a name with the vowels in Yahweh. I QUOTE a source that uses the name Yahweh. In the previous post and others by me, in my own original writing, I use YHWH (an English transliteration of the Hebrew tetragrammaton*) without attempting to place any vowels in it. In my previous post in my own words I wrote: "If we take care of the PROPER NOUN for the true name of God, YHWH..." ____________________ * tetragrammaton - the four Hebrew letters usually transliterated YHWH or JHVH that form a biblical proper name of God (Merriam-Webster Online) Grace to you, Kalos |

Kalos I just wanted to clear that point up. Many people mistakenly accept Yahweh as the "offical" name of God. In fact the JW take the english form of that name as the name of their religion. To me this is one major proof that JW are off track. EdB |
