1 | Ex 30:23 kaneh bosm is cannabis? | Ex 30:23 | morleyde | 183000 | ||
Ex 30:23 Moses is instructed to make a holy ointment. One of the ingredients is sweet calamus or in hebrew kaneh bosm, which means fragrant reed or hemp. Some use this verse to justify cannabis use. I do not. What is the meaning of kaneh bosm? Is it cannabis? Is it just the flower that was used to make an aromatic ointment? Thanks, Joe |

Hi, Morleyde... I've heard this too. :-) Boy, what folks will come up with! And they'll argue with you forever, regardless of the scholarship you cite! Of course, we see that kind of stubbornness all around us! No, sweet calamus is "sweet cane, a product of Arabia and India, of a tawny color in appearance; it is like the common cane and strongly odoriferous." (Jamieson, Fausset and Brown). In Him, Doc |
