1 | What is the meaning of unleavened bread? | Ex 12:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122385
Unleaven bread is a symbol for sin. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8, "Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." Unleaven bread goes back to the first Passover meal (Exodus 12). The Hebrews were told to "eat it in haste" (the lamb, bread, and herbs). Naturally, it takes time for bread to rise with yeast (leaven) as an ingredient. The leaven symbolizes sin as a hinderance to being "passed over" from the judgment of God. They were to eat "with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand" (verse 11). This signifies being prepared to move instantly on the word of God. WalkingTalkingBible |

Thanks for the note. I am working on a study about what we are. We are clay vessels, and also bread. Very exciting what we are or what we become in Christ! Lorenzo |

3 | What is the meaning of unleavened bread? | Ex 12:1 | Emmaus | 122584
Lorenzo, "We are clay vessels, and also bread." Ignatius, bishop of Antioch wrote of this "we are bread" as he was being taken to Rome for martyrdom around 100 A.D. "I write to all the Churches, and impress on them all, that I shall willingly die for God, unless ye hinder me. I beseech of you not to show an unseasonable goodwill towards me. Suffer me to become food for the wild beasts, through whose instrumentality it will be granted me to attain to God. I am the wheat of God, and am ground by the teeth of the wild beasts, that I may be found the pure bread of God. Rather entice the wild beasts, that they may become my tomb, and may leave nothing of my body; so that when I have fallen asleep [in death], I may not be found troublesome to any one. Then shall I be a true disciple of Jesus Christ, when the world shall not see so much as my body. Entreat the Lord for me, that by these instruments I may be found a sacrifice to God." Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans dated 98-117 A.D. He died a Martyr in Rome after being taken there in chains for refusing to worship Ceasar as God. http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/p2s2c1a3.htm#1334 Emmaus |
