1 | Daniel Fast what can be eaten or not? | Dan 1:12 | EdB | 145454
annamarie I applaud your zeal but don't let that make you miss what the scripture is revealing to us in Daniel 1. Daniel as a young boy was instructed carefully by his parents, grandparents and they had placed values in him. When he and his three companions were offered the rich food from the King’s table they probably were elated but they also knew this food was usually offered or blessed by idols. Daniel and his companions did not want to eat food that had been in any way connected to idols so he said simply bring us just vegetables and water. These were considered common food and wouldn’t have been presented to an idol for blessing. Therefore Daniel and his young companions were blessed by God for their faithfulness, not because of what they eat but rather because of what they didn’t eat, food first blessed or offered to idols. Today we are told in 1 Timothy 4:1-5 (NKJV) 1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Today we are to enjoy all that God has provided for us but we need to use moderation and always giving God thanks for it and asking God’s blessing upon it. So if you want to go on a Daniel fast you need to eat food that first wasn’t offered or blessed by idols. To do that you should eat in moderation and eat only what you have given God thanksgiving for and have asked God to sanctify to the good of your body. EdB |

2 | Daniel 10 Fast | Dan 1:12 | annamarie | 145456
This is not the fast I am talking about, I am talking about the Daniel fast in Daniel 10 whereas he sustained from all meat, bread and wine to fight the Prince of Persia, this is the kind of fast I am talking about that goes on for 21 days, three weeks. Many have taken this fast and many have had breakthroughs in their life, Paula White and Jentzen Franklin was talking about this fast the other day on TV, saying both of them were on this fast when the LORD brought them into their ministries and many things were broken over them. Do you have any comment on this? |

3 | Daniel 10 Fast | Dan 1:12 | EdB | 145458
annamarie First the Prince of Persia has been defeated in your life if your in Christ. If you want to fast that is fine. Jesus said we should fast. But understand what happens when we fast we become more submitted to God and therefore more resistant to Satan and Satan flees. Ever see that anywhere? James 4:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you... EdB |

4 | What is your input? | Dan 1:12 | annamarie | 145459
I realize that when we give our life to Christ, be reborn, that Satan has been defeated in that way, Satan was defeated when Jesus went to the cross and was crucified. What I am wanting to know is what a person is not to eat whil on this fast, do you know if pasta, fish or drinking coffee on this fast is acceptable or not? The reason I want to go on this fast is to get closer to my FAther and I am already submitted to Him,, to be able to hear Him more clearly for His direction in my life at this time, what is your input? |

5 | What is your input? | Dan 1:12 | mark d seyler | 145463
Hi Annamarie, There was one more thing I wanted to say on this topic. There are many people who promote a system of works. Do this fast, give this gift, pray this prayer, we've heard so many! But that always comes down to man's desire to be in the driver's seat. If I have a system of works, I can "do the system" and God has to perform. That's not the relationship God wants with us. God wants my submission to Him, at a spiritual 'heart' level. So many of these who will promote their system will then try to sell you details. That is always a tip-off. But even when they don't, if they teach something beyond what is in the Bible, even calling is a pseudo-biblical name, such as a "Daniel Fast", when there actually is no such "fast" given as a pattern for others to follow. The only fast actually commanded by God was on the Day of Atonement. Everything beyond that is our freewill offering. Anyway, I hope this may help. Love in Christ, Mark |
