1 | Where is this king from? | Dan 11:36 | benjamite | 35726
Assuming that this hasn't happened yet, is this king from a third kindgom or is he, indeed, the King of the North? (With v. 40 starting with the King of the South coming against him, and then this King of the North retalliates and overpowers the King of the South.)
2 | Where is this king from? | Dan 11:36 | CDBJ | 35751
There are types and antitypes throughout the Bible and the verses in question, Dan. 11:36 were already played out once by Antiochus in the second century B.C. (I macc. 1:16-24) This can't be found in most of the protestant Bibles but it is nevertheless a written record of history. Antiochus was a type of the Antichrist to come, i.e. the final world ruler who will probably follow the same path right up to the abomination of desolation that was spoken of by Christ, Paul and John. This path included attacking the Kings of the South then returning to the land bridge that we call Israel. He is also referred in the Book of revelation as the little horn. Up until Russia was split apart as a nation this was rather difficult to figure out but now things are starting to fall into place since that nation has split apart. At least that how I see it, CDBJ (Ref.) The Sign by Robert Van Kampen pages 195, 196 |

3 | Where is this king from? | Dan 11:36 | benjamite | 35763
So basically, you are saying, in essence, that the king here, and in verse 40, is a king (or "are kings") of the North. |

4 | Where is this king from? | Dan 11:36 | CDBJ | 35764
It's the Antichrist, singular.
5 | Where is this king from? | Dan 11:36 | benjamite | 35783
Fine, but that is not what I meant. There are those (I believe it was in the Jerome Biblical Commentary) who describe 40-45 as referring to Antiochus IV, but point out that it didn't take place (and also that this "author" of Daniel 11 was wrong about what would happen to Antiochus). Given that some see these verses as referring to both Antiochus and/or the Antichrist, I was allowing for these "kings" as opposed to just the Antichrist "king", I do, however, see from 36 onward as referring just to the Antichrist.

I didn't say that it was Antiochus, I only said that he was a forerunner of the Antichrist, there are ways in which the two are different. The one that Daniel was speaking of though is the Antichrist that will perform like a King. He at one point will demand the worship of the world. You must stop and remember that Daniel is looking at this from a Jewish viewpoint or what was known as the time of Jacob's trouble. The same situation is mentioned from a point of view of the Church or body of Christ. 2 Thes. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. The book of Revelation really goes into more details if you like and can understand metaphors. Rev. 13:1-8 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. I am really not quit sure what it is that you are looking for but I hope this helps. Sometimes I don't understand exactly what it is that people are looking for and I thing that I confuse them more with my answers. There are times when I get a little dense so please be patient.
