1 | Gatekeeper's charge to warn of danger | Ezek 3:18 | Seeker1940 | 147954 | ||
I am searching for an answer to the following: Chapter and verse reference for my 'memory' of the following OT admonition. There is a specific instance that refers to a gatekeeper's obligation to call out a warning of danger to people in the city even if they refuse to heed the warning. The idea is that if he fails to warn them he assumes the burden for their destruction by not issuing the warning. If they reject his warning the responsibility lies with them, he has fulfilled his charge as gatekeeper. This paraphrase is too broad to pull keywords for a reference. Can anyone help? |

Ezek 3:18 "When I say to the wicked, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Ezek 3:19 "Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself. |
