That would be a good story to help define the word "laconic!" Thank you for sharing it! The pleonastic Polonius would have done well with this lesson when Shakespeare had him say, "Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice." :-) And lest I cause us to stray entirely away from our Bible study: "Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be vindicated? Should your empty talk make men hold their peace?" (Job 11:2-3a) For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God. (Ecclesiastes 5:7a) |

Doc: "Pleonastic Polonius?" You outdo yourself! I'd bet that even Demosthenes couldn't say 'pleonastic Polonius' 10 times with his mouth stuffed full of pebbles -- or without the pebbles either, for that matter. --Hank .... P.S.
