Does prayer really help? What kind of prayers does God answer? How can one develop an attitude of prayer? It seems that the prayer I have been hearing are no more than begging God for things? Is that the object of prayer? | ||||||

Greetings - God listens to us! Jer 29:13 says 'You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.' Prayer is simply communication with God. Talking to God as you would talk to a friend. What do you talk about? Things in your life that concern you, delight you etc. You also talk with a friend to learn more about them; their likes and dislikes, what makes them who they are. As you discover who your friend is, you understand what you can do to please them. If you only want to be with a friend for what they can do for you, what does that say about your friendship? Same way with God. One thing that I try to consider is this: Am I looking for God's Hand or what is in it? Do I desire His presence or what His presence can do for me? God knows the motives of our hearts, and even in our self-centeredness, He loves us still. See Pslam 37:4. When we delight in God, just take pleasure in who He is, for His sake, He will give us the desires of our heart. Who do these desires belong to - God! God's deisres are given to us! Now whose deisres would you rather have - yours or His? When His desires are given to us, they become ours - think about this. Blessings mommapbs |
