I have and will again,... I would think "thou shall not kill" in Ten commandments, would be enough of a contradiction. Abortion funded by taxation would imply to me that America is murdering and/or accompliance to, through support of Government.( God else only knows what other corruption may be going on.) I guess the contradiction I see in this example could be summed up like this." God says" Thou shalt not murder" but Paul says support a evil government because they do God's will." I understand Paul times, I also understand Paul was the authority and definately had a loyality to it, bred into him. Even God himself asked Paul why he was persecuting him before his conversion on the way to Damascus. After conversion, Paul would have been breaking the law by turning to a disciple and neglecting his duty to persecute Christians. Wouldn't he? Maybe he retired? Does any of the four gospels back up what Paul is saying to the extent Paul explains. Yes Jesus did say give to Caesar what is Caeser and to God what is God's. To me the key term there is give to "God what is God's". Are you God's or Caesars? What have you chosen? As a Christian I'm God's, not Caesers, Caeser is long gone anyway. Are we to interpet Jesus the same as Paul in Romans 13? Paul goes a little further than Jesus did. Another Question? If I did all my trade in Gold or bartering which doesn't have US markings on it then would I have to pay taxes? There is a dollar out there backed by gold I believe its called the Liberty dollar. See it isn't as clearcut as you think? Many, many questions. |

Hello dnewland, Can you explain exactly how "thou shall not kill" in Ten commandments, would be enough of a contradiction"? I must take issue with you on your rather loose comment, that "Paul says support a evil government because they do God's will." No, Paul does not say that. That is YOUR twisting of scripture. Rather, he says, "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities." You are reading into the text, my friend. Be careful. We're not really gaining any ground here are we? , You are not providing or giving much scriptural support to your idea! I think it much more clear cut than you think. I'll echo kalos, that if you do not want to pay taxes, that's your choice. Be my guest. You don't know what you don't know! Friend, there are many legal tax strategies available to minimize one's tax bracket and taxable income. However, that is really beyond the scope and purpose of this Forum. Might I implore you to seek the things of Christ and set your mind upon Him?! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Just trying to provoke thought about scriptures. I apologize if I offended you that was not my intent. I am happy its clear for you, however I am not at all satified that Romans 13 means would should lay down and die so to speak to an evil gov. Thanks anyway for your opinions on Romans 13. God bless |
