I just read it so my first response is that God is just warning us as His children not to be senstitive to every new thing that develops in the public world. Fashions come and go as do rumors of war and peace. We as God's children need to put our faith and trust in God as He truly is in charge of the whole creation and knows all our wants and needs. Some folks may take this passage to imply that they can find and read the right signs in the sky or anyplace else and predict the pending doom of the world and judgement day, etc. I differ with that kind of thinking and point to the words of Jesus. He said the end of the world would come "like a thief in the night." I don't think anyone will be expecting it when the actual end happens, just like in the days of Noah. As we are shown in the Book of Job, if the worse comes and we lose everything, including our very lives, we should still rely on God to bring us home. The tragedies of this world are mainly caused by the sin in the world but we can minimize their happening to us by living Godly lives. But the bottom line message from Job is that God wants us to get over our addiction for the physical world and instead get hooked on the idea of spending eternity with Him in heaven. I agree, this takes work, a lifetime of hard work to truly believe and have faith of this depth. Hope to see you there. God bless. |
