1 | Does Is.66:23 mean sabbath still stands? | Is 66:23 | Elder | 232488
Only thing that was taken away by Jesus was those things that were against us according to Col 2:14 the sabbath was in no wise against us.. The misconception is that the Sabbath was a Jewish day.. The sabbath was made for man Mark 2:27 from the beginning before there was a Jew Gen 2:3 ex 20:11... If we say the sabbath is done away with then we make the scripture a lie.. If we say the sabbath was just a Jewish thing then why do we acknowledge the 10 commandments... Jesus came to give us a better was so now we keep the righteousness of the law... The law was never sin it pointed out sin therefore again Heb 4:9 there is still a rest for the ppl of God that day id the seventh day sabbath the only day of rest mentioned in the holy scriptures

You are absolutely correct nothing was taken away. However many things were fulfilled by Jesus. Sabbath day rest was fulfilled by the Rest Giver Shiloh. We are still to worship God but we can rest in the assurance that our salvation through grace has been purchased for us. Jesus declared Himself the Lord of the Sabbath. What do you suppose that meant? Likewise Jesus made this statement while He and His disciples were in fact breaking the Jewish Sabbath Law. Why do you suppose Jesus did that? Jesus said God is Spirit and those that worship God must worship God in spirit and truth. How does that fit into our view of Sabbath worship? |
