Cross reference Matt. 19:12 Jesus was the first to recognize sexual outcasts as worthy of God's kingdom. This quote from Matthew is the closest biblical reference we have to our current understanding that homosexuality is a psychological identity, rather than just physical acts."For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb" mthis could only refer to homosexuality. Being born a eunuch means to be born without the pschological ability to be with a woman. to For Christ to have known this in biblical times is a testament to his inspired understanding. Jesus brought a new covenant with God, not only to the children of Israel but to all mankind. It is a covenant of loving your neighbor as yourself, and raising a joyful noise unto the Lord. The communities established by his disciples, who knew and quoted him, accepted all the outcasts of Israel and understood the Genesis account of sex as the gift of companionship as well as procreation. This fulfills the prophecy of the Messiah. In Isaiah 56: 2-8, the eunuch is predicted to inherit a special place in the house of the Lord and the sons of strangers are predicted to take hold of the Lord's covenant. Verse 7 predicts: "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." |

EU'NUCH, n. (Gr. a bed, and to keep.) A male of the human species castrated. (Webster’s) eunouchizo, yoo-noo-khid’-zo: From G2135; to castrate (figuratively live unmarried): - make . . . eunuch. "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." The disciples *said to Him, "If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry." But He said to them, "Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given. "For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it." (Mat 19:9-12) Firstly, you've taken the word eunuch out of the context, the specific setting of Jesus' teaching in Matthew, so your analysis does not hold scriptural water. Also, a eunuch has been physically altered, either voluntarily or involuntarily. Jesus deliberately qualifies a particular voluntary type as having done so for the kingdom of heaven. What can He mean by “He who is able to accept this, let him accept it”? Is this a preaching on non-judgementalism and universal eligibility for heaven? Can a man who willingly castrates himself through sexual perversion repent and be forgiven? I'd say absolutely, wouldn't you agree? Can a willing homosexual who comes to Jesus, repents and asks forgiveness become a child of God? Yes. (Joh 1:12-13) Psychology is not a physical alteration and, like sin, can be overcome. The bible teaches that practicing homosexuality is sin. Read Romans 1 and 2. Colin |
