1 | Christ and the Church (Song of Solomon) | Song 2:15 | Makarios | 59039
Greetings Searcher, I seriously doubt that this is an issue that must be taken or dealt with in confrontation. I simply see this as a misunderstanding or conflict in reasoning regarding these verses. But, yes, the NIV Study Bible is an excellent resource, although others like Ryrie, MacArthur, Nelson and Scofield, used in conjunction with the NIV Study Bible, seem to give one a greater breadth of information regarding some passages.. :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |

Makarios, I think teachers need to be challenged, not so much confronted if one think they missed something. I base this on Acts 17:11 and James 3:1 ... and on the latter, I want to know if someone thinks I missed something or am wrong. Searcher

Greetings Searcher! Yes, very much so (teachers need to be challenged)! However, there is a large difference between "challenging" or testing what one has to say, and "confronting" someone, face to face, about what they have said. Most of what I see on this Forum that I do not agree with, I let "slide", unless it is grossly in error and in direct conflict with what Scripture teaches. I know the Scriptures in which you base what you have stated, my friend! But I do not believe that everything, each and every single little thing (something as small as the correct interpretation of the Song of Solomon), should be something that we should confront or argue or use precious time in debating over.. And if you are "wrong", as in 'grossly wrong' or in conflict with the Scriptures, then I would expect that you would hope to find some "correction" on this Forum, as I would also. However, I suspect that you would not like me very much at all if I consistently and constantly pointed out your alleged "shortcomings" or differences in opinion in every single post that you made! :-) Such behavior is not an act in Christian love, in my opinion, and we should desire peace above all else. Confrontation is a "last resort" option, in my opinion, after we have all of the facts straight, and must not be hastily resorted to. But that is all that I have to say on that matter, my friend! Blessings to you, Makarios |
