2 | How can you know? | Eccl 1:18 | Hank | 29061
Resurrectioner, Qohelet in Ecclesiastes 1:16 affirms that his heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge, but concludes in v. 18 that in wisdom is grief and in knowledge sorrow. These things and many others Solomon found to be vanity of vanities, all of them vanity, like chasing after the wind. The key verse of Ecclesiastes is 12:7. Having tasted of all life had to offer a man of wealth and power, for he had both, Solomon concluded "Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole (duty) of man." Adam and Eve found neither truth nor wisdom in disobeying God. They found out -- it could be said they gained the knowledge -- that "the soul who sins shall die." (Ezekiel 18:4). --Hank
