1 | Scriptures on the spirit of Apathy? | Prov 1:32 | prayon | 104558
I am looking for a passage of scripture that talks about the spirit of apathy when it comes to the way we live our lives. I need a way biblically to back up that we have become desensitized today that we don't even realize that Satan is behind things. Thanks, prayon
2 | Scriptures on the spirit of Apathy? | Prov 1:32 | Mommapbs | 104559
Check out Proverbs 1:32-33! I'm not sure that these suggest that Satan is behind our complacency, but we can be sure that God is NOT! I think that all too often we blame the devil for what just comes naturally! Can Eve blame Satan? I might suggest that our desensitization arises from our own sin nature - which Romans 1 addresses. Satan just uses this to his advantage when he tempts us! BTW, I used Biblegateway and input the words complacency, complacent, indifference etc in NIV and MSG translations to find these verses. Greetings this Lord's Day! Do read 2 Peter 1:1-9 and especially focus here - "For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having FORGOTTEN (emp mine) his purification from his former sins." v9 Does our apathy arise from our lack of focus on the finished work of Christ? Think about how we might drift away from this . . .certainly satan does not want us to realize the power that is at work in us, so he cleverly deceives us to believe lies about ourself, tempting us to focus on past failures or disappointments as a means to measure our self worth. All this being said, consider how we often respond - by trying harder! But self-effort is no more than wood, hay or straw in the economy of eternity! (See 1 Cor 3:9-23) Blessings, mommapbs |
