1 | Creation, feminism, and equality. Oh my! | Gen 3:15 | phruubeljiie | 65843
In Genesis' first story of creation, God talked about how he created man in his image, and male and female he created them... but feminists talk about how the bible says that women are inferior to men. Could someone please clarify?
2 | Creation, feminism, and equality. Oh my! | Gen 3:15 | Emmaus | 65844
phruubeljiie, Many people read more into the bible than is there. Feminists are no exception. How could woman be inferior to man if she was created in the likeness of God and is also described in Genesis as being formed out of man, that is to say an intregal part of him? You will also find those who argue that Jesus is not God because he says the Father is greater than He in one passage, ignoring the passage where He says the Father and He are one and he who has seen Him has seen the Father among other passaages. Fasten your seatbelt, its going to be a bumpy ride! I see your short phrasing of the question recognizes the potential for humor in this matter. Thank God for that. And how about that Mary? What man came even close to such an honor? Right from the beginning, even after the Fall the bible teaches God had big plans for woman, Gen 3:15; Rev 12:1. Emmaus |

3 | Creation, feminism, and equality. Oh my! | Gen 3:15 | phruubeljiie | 65921
The maddening thing about Revelations is that there are two women associated with the Dragon; Mary (symbolizes Jerusalem) and the woman who symbolizes Babylon. Of course, Babylon is greedy and desires physical finery like gold and silk and perfumes. However, her gender remains. So are women are just both ends of the spectrum, the absolute good and the absolute evil, or am I looking too far into this?
4 | Creation, feminism, and equality. Oh my! | Gen 3:15 | Emmaus | 65940
phruubeljiie Think more of the Whore of Babylon is to the AntiChrist, as to the Church, the Bride of Christ is to Christ. The woman in Revelation 12 also represents the Church and Israel as well as Mary who in Catholic theology also symbolizes the Church and the fulfillment of Isreal and the concept of "daughter Zion" in the Old Testament. The devil (evil) always presents a counterfeit of the good. He presents himself as an "angel of light," (2 Corinthians 11:14) when in fact he is the prince of darkness. The essence of temptation is to present an option that in itself seems appealing and good, but in reality is evil because it takes the place of the greater fgood that God has in mind for us. Pick a subject good created by God; food, sex, medicinal drugs, etc.: when taken out of their proper God given context they can still appear good and appealing but in fact be sin, such as gluttony, fornication, drug addiction, etc. The tempter never says "Let's go get into trouble!" He always presents it as "Lets have some fun! It won't hurt anybody." Gen 3:1-7 Emmaus |
