Hello DUDUTJ, There is nothing to indicate the serpent had legs prior to God cursing it. "Some scoffers have raised the question of whether serpents had legs and feet before man sinned and were deprived of these as penalty. The biblical account does not imply this, nor are we to suppose that before man sinned serpents stood upright; rather the serpent's closeness to the ground is now made a penalty; thereby a new meaning and significance is attached to it." --Genesis by J.G. Vos, p. 68. Steve |

But it is not necessary to suppose that the snake stood upright like a man, justa because we use the term "legs", but rather that it was like a reptile. And although some critics speak agaisnt the Bible in this issue, like myth, science shows that it is quite possible: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7339508.stm This, actually, would prova Bible account. Dont you think so? |

No, it is not necessary to suppose standing upright. I was simply giving the full quote in its context. I do not think the article proves the Bible account. There is nothing in Genesis 3 that would cause us to think there could not have been a member of the snake family with leg appendages--working or not. Steve |
