1 | What about "the moon" in Joseph's dream? | Gen 37:9 | ixoye777 | 109427
I was thinking about Genesis 37:9-10. Joseph has a dream that "the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down" to him. His father, Jacob asks, "Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?" Well, what is the answer? I think the answer is NO, because his mother, Rachel, dies in childbirth in the land of Canaan while giving birth to Benjamin. Thus she never makes the trip to Egypt with the rest of the family, and never does bow down (as the rest of them do) to Joseph while he the Prime Minister of the Land. So, was the prophecy to Joseph in error, or was Jacob's qualifying question in error, or what? |

The moon may have been talking about Leah, Jacob's other wife (Gen 29:16ff).
3 | What about "the moon" in Joseph's dream? | Gen 37:9 | Jim Estes | 172766
It could not have been Leah either, since she also died before Jacob was reunited with Joseph. Nor can I find scripture that says that Jacob ever bowed down to Joseph. Even Jacob pondered over the meaning. Genesis 49:31 There Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried, there Isaac and his wife Rebekah were buried, and there I buried Leah. Gen 37:11 Joseph's brothers envied him and were jealous of him, but his father observed the saying and pondered over it. Yours in Christ, Jim Estes |

Just because the Bible says they didn't bow doesn't mean they didn't
