2 | Jacob's way or God's way?? | Gen 32:1 | Bill Richardson | 230619 | ||
Naturally I must asssume you're talking about the most famous wrestling match of all time. As you suggest Jacob was used to getting his way in the world and God needed to "wrestle" that streak of stubborness out of him and accept His Way instead. Notice Laban's deception was also a "curve ball" Jacob didn't anticipate. But in the end, Jacob is fearful of his brother but surprise, "No need." Esau was willing to forgive and re-establish his relationship with his "long lost" brother. You show a lot of insight in your study of God's Word. I think the most powerful lesson we can learn is from Joseph and how he saw and appreciated God's Guidance in his life. Gen 50:17 ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.”’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him. 18 Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.” 19 Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. It's sometimes VERY tough for us to grow and mature to the point that we see God's "Nos" and "Waits" for the valuable answers they are in our lives. Go with God in all things, Bill |
