Dear Brother WOS, It is interesting that none of the confessions mention the idea of consummation. That notion must have its roots in Rome. The latter must have picked it up from the Babylonian Talmud which states that a woman is not considered married "until the actual consummation of the nuptials." Brother Doc, I noticed the lack of "consummation" as well. It makes one wonder if God intended marriage to be more than simply a joining of the flesh, such as a joining of the spirit. I see a direct parallel with Christ and His bride. Am I off base on this? WOS |
