Hi, I just wanted to know, I started dating a guy about six months ago, He always said he was a christian and believed in the salvation of Jesus Christ, but as I got to know him I began to see his life didnt seem to bare much fruit of the spirit, He never talked to God and knew nothing of scripture except what was taught at his Lutheran church. Since we have been dating I have tried to encourage him more in scripture and developing a personal relationship with God, He struggles alot in doing it although him and his friends have always been at church and sang in the choir, raised as church goers. I just found it so strange that he never got closer to The Lord. But now I gave him purpose driven life to read which is taking him awhile to get through, what Im asking is if he and I are ok to date and if we can both grow together in our Faith.

Hadassah-ruth, Good day to you. The first thing I want encourage you with is first and most importantly is to keep God first in your life. (Matt 6:33) Secondly is what evidence is there that he is saved. Growing up in church doesn't make one a christian. So the most important thing is his salvation and your walk with God. Read Romans chapter fourteen. Paul does a superb job in dealing with things of the conscience. Read this and give it allot of consideration. Give him a bible if he doesn't have one. Get him with individuals you know are strong in the faith. Yes you both grow in the faith, but that presumes that you are both in the faith. If he's not saved then you have a choice that you gotta make. Keep 2 Corinthians 6:14 in mind as you take all this into consideration. In Him, lionheart |

Thank you for your reply. I strive with all my heart and spirit to keep the Lord first. There is proof, changes, I watched him pray the prayer of salvation.. At a planet shakers concert. And we have begun to pray together. Thats the very first gift I got him. A bible. Just feels I at times need to force feed him, and I want to share the Lord and his word. I mean not to judge, Im just concerned for him, truly want to help him grow with the Lord, and I dont want to do anything thats not of God, and have someone lie there way into my heart. But I will surely read Romans 14 and take all that you said to heart. Thank you. Warmest blessings. Peace be with you.
