1 | Genesis chapter 1 | Gen 1:16 | Morant61 | 96622
Greetings Truthfinder! I would say that verse one refers to the initial creation of the 'stuff' of the universe, but the 'stuff' was as yet unshaped. The following verses deal with God's shaping of His creation. As far as the light of v.3, the term used in not the Hebrew term for 'sun', 'moon', or 'star', but simply 'light'. The verse goes on to distinguish between night and day. So, I would say that light here was much the same as the light of the sun, but the sun simply hadn't been created yet. Time, and the marking of time definitely seems to be the primary thought of the verse. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | Genesis chapter 1 | Gen 1:16 | Emmaus | 96632
Tim, An interesting question in this regard is when God created the invisible things. Were the invisible but physical things created before the visible and did time begin then? And when did God create the invisible but purely spiritual things such as angels. Since time exists in the relationship between movement and space and the angels being pure spirit do not occupy "space" were they created at the same time as physical things? They are not eternal like God in the sense that they had no beginning, but if they were created before the physical things we cannot rightly attribute a "time" as we understand it to their creation. 3 | Genesis chapter 1 | Gen 1:16 | Hank | 96641
Emmaus - Your reasoning regarding God's time-frame of creation makes an enormous amount of sense to me, and I believe it is in tune with biblical revelation. ..... But what I await with eager anticipation is next week's installment in which you promise to wrestle with the question, "How many angels (also called 'angles' on this forum) can dance on the head of a pin?" ..... Please let me know the day you plan to post it so we can coordinate our scholarly efforts and make a really big splash, because I am working on a definitive answer to the question, "Who was Cain's wife?" Do you think the forum is ready for this? --Hank
