Matthew 5:43-47 (ESV) "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' [44] But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, [45] so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. [46] For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? [47] And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Romans 12:14 (ESV) Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. |

5 | Love sinner hate sin Part II | Ps 5:5 | Thomas8 | 205125
I realize I'm responding to a post about 4 years old and hope Doc will forgive me for this, but it is an interesting subject. Would anyone take Mt 5:43-47 as meaning Love your enemies, Satan is your enemy, therefor love Satan? I don't think so... Jesus also said, "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"(Mat 25:41 KJVR)Is it sin or sinners that are cast into the Lake of Fire? If God hates the sin and loves the sinner why isn't that distinction made at that most important moment? Surely a refining fire might leave something? Paul wrote Rom 12:14. 'Do not curse them.' He also wrote, If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. (1Co 16:22 KJVR). That is a pretty strong and extensive verse. I am thankful when people consider these contrasts and try to reconcile them. My powers of rationalization fail me often. Your comments are appreciated and do help me learn. God bless you. PS, before someone jumps on the word 'rationalization' above, I intended it in the first sense and not the second: 1. To think in a rational or rationalistic way. 2. To devise self-satisfying but incorrect reasons for one's behavior. |

6 | Love sinner hate sin Part II | Ps 5:5 | Val | 205133
Thomas that is a very good question. What I would suggest is to get a concordance and look up the words God and Jesus to look specifically at their ways in regards to justice. Other words such as condemn and condemnation would show why people are condemned to hell. You might also do a word study on hate and love. First go to a concordance and see the verses used. Use a bible dictionary to help unearth meanings of words. I use Vines and Zodhiates. Our allegiance is to Christ Jesus and God the Father. We must be aware of evil, that is another good word to study. We are to walk in the Spirit so we are always attuned to Christ and who we are to help and who would do us harm. Blessings Val
