Hi, Momma! It is always a pleasure to "see" you! How are you doing, ma'am? It is a fundamental presupposition in Christian thinking that truth is external to us (John 17:17b; Proverbs 18:2). Learning is the processing by which truth becomes internalized, becoming what we call knowledge (Proverbs 12:1). Apprehending that knowledge might be called understanding (Proverbs 1:5). Sometimes people have knowledge without understanding (Proverbs 14:5). A fact or principle can be recited without comprehension of its implications or its relationship to other facts and principles. Yet understanding is always predicated on knowledge of the truth. Wisdom, on the other hand, is not something that is simply cognitive. Wisdom is the application of knowledge to specific circumstances. You might think of it as understanding in action or the application of truth. Wisdom never sits passively in someone's head. Wisdom is always an expressed in words, deeds, thoughts, and feelings. My pastor always says it this way: Biblical truth always effects our heads, our hearts, our hands, and our habits. I hope that helps. In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc - so glad to read your response as well as other "old timers" here on the Forum. I appreciate the insight and references that you all provide as I prepare a message for some suffering folks. God has me where He wants me, so I am doing well! Our oldest son has a wife and baby, no income, will have no home as of September, no money (lost it all on a failed court case) and now he has had his car stolen. Today he told me, God owns it all, even the car, so He can do as He wants with my life. Suffering is good. Phil 1:29. It will be exciting to watch God move here. I am encouraged by his steadfast faith in God to provide; hope that I have modeled this for him too! Blessings, and thanks again for your response! mommapbs |

Dear Momma, We will include your son and his family in our prayers. As I read your note, I couldn't help but think how your understanding of providential affliction as you faced it yourself has equipped others. God is so merciful and gracious! Thank you for sharing! In Him, Doc |
