3 | So He gives the desires, then satisfies? | Ps 37:4 | the sower | 110112
So...We're saying, He will give me that which I desire? or He will give me the desire of that which He will give me. I'm not trying to be difficult or stand on scemantics(?sp) I note that often in my own walk as I delight myself in Him, the things/attitudes/desires of my heart often change. It's as if He is actually putting new desires in my heart. Like the addage, how do you get a bone away from a dog? By giving him a piece of meat. Sorry for any confusion. Perhaps it's both, He gives the desires, then He satisfies them. Praise God! Thanks!!!
4 | So He gives the desires, then satisfies? | Ps 37:4 | kalos | 110121
the sower: Thanks for the clarification of your question. I agree with you when you write, "He gives the desires, then He satisfies them." "Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart." AND He will give you new desires. You'll find yourself desiring what He desires for you. Peace, kalos |

5 | So He gives the desires, then satisfies? | Ps 37:4 | EdB | 110126
the sower The unregenerate focus on "He will give you the desires of your heart" they overlook "delight yourself in the Lord". Therefore many read and teach this passage to mean, if your in Christ he will give you everything you ever wanted riches, fame, whatever. However the passage when read as written means something clearly different. As you said the closer you walk to Jesus the more your desires leave worldly things and becomes focused on spiritual things. Kalos said it this way “You'll find yourself desiring what He desires for you.” It is not quite like you said taking a bone from a dog by giving him meat. It is more like taking a grenade from a baby by giving him his bottle. One will destroy the other will nourish. The closer we walk to Jesus our desires our focus should change. The things of this world should diminish and things spiritual things eternal should develop new clarity and importance in our lives. Delight yourself in the Lord and like Paul you will find it matters little if your rich or poor, hot or cold, in peril or out your trust and your hope will be firmly fixed on Jesus EdB |
