To "not walk in teh counsel...", can really be misunderstood. Ok, let me not do anything wrong... Remember that Jesus said: "You who did not visit me..". To not do anything is just as much a sin, as for the one who walk in the counsel of the wicked. The idea of not do anything, and than think, "well I did not do anything wrong" is a non Christian thought. Of course we should not walk in the counsel of the wicket. But what should we do instead of that? We must walk in righteousness. And that is for us that is in Christ Jesus, walking in the Spirit... |

Dear P and B, That particular post is over 4 years old... so I don't think you will hear from WilBo... their last post was some 3 years ago. Wouldn't the psalmist have meant that the converse of not walking in the counsel of the wicked, would be to walk in the counsel of the righteous? Indeed, the second verse of this psalm asserts that the righteous "delight is in the law of the LORD." In other words, that is the counsel they prize most highly, and -- by implication -- that in which they walk. Righteousness only comes through Christ (Romans 5:19; Romans 8:14; 1 John 2:29). We are not saved by doing righteousness (Titus 3:5), but all those who are saved walk in righteousness (1 John 3:7). I believe that would be the proper Christocentric exegesis of these verses.
