Hi, erwin! From the very beginning there has been a called for the servants of God to be separate from the children of the world! This separation is due to God's command that His followers be pure from all the pagan rituals and beliefs. But we must be careful how we apply this separation; I mean, there are poeple out there claiming that God's command is to have purity of race (ethnicity, culture, color...). "Are we supposed not to accept gifts given by someone whom we suspected "uncleaned?"" It is not enough to suspect someone of being uncleaned (unrighteous; anti-Christian...): Do not judge: Matthew 7:1-2 By "suspecting" we are judging. If there is no evidence that someone is actually against Christ or worshipping a god who is not the One True God, how can we separate ourselves from that person/s? The reason why we are to be separated from an "unclean" person is because any joining (be it partaking in that person's activities or simply passively supporting him/her--yes as in receiving gifts or simply maintaining a relationship (other than that of preaching and teaching him/her about Christ)--in any form) makes us equal partners in their unrighteous and rebellious acts: Matthew 9:4-5 and 1 Corinthians 6:16. God Bless! Angel |
