1 | Divorce and remarry? | Ps 103:12 | prayon | 10878
Some denominations believe that once you have been divorced you are not able to enter the ministry. Some denominations do not have that belief. I know of no where in the bible that says you may not enter the ministry except in 1 Tim 3:1-13. In those verses it says that you must be married only once to serve as a bishop. However, in the KJV among others it says "be husbands of one wife", which can mean that you can only be married to one woman at a time and have nothing to do with divorce and remarriage. There are many different reasons for divorce, some the bible gives consent for and some it does not. I have no idea what your circumstances were in your divorce but if they were against scripture I am sure that you have asked for forgiveness from God and have repented for them. In that case your sins have been washed away by the blood of the lamb. They are no more, and if God has forgotten them who is man to remember them? If your reasons were biblically correct then you have not sinned at all and should not be held back for obtaining your divorce. I would also say this to you. If you have prayed and truly feel that God has called you into the ministry then who is man to keep you from what God has called you to do? If your church or denomination forbids it I suggest that you go where you are able to fulfill God's call on your life. prayon |

My first wife filed for divorce 28 years ago. I remarried lated that year to another woman who had not been married. Since then my first wife passed away. Am I free to be a deacon or a bishop/ pastor. I am currently ministering to Senior adults at a Southern Baptist church, on a voluntary basis. Where the scriptures does it say I am free to go into the ministry as a bishop/ pastor. I am looking for scripture proof that this possible.
3 | Scriptural Proof. | Ps 103:12 | richilou | 10975
My dear friend, I think you could have been a deacon or elder before her death, depending of your circumstance. I have studied in depth that subject having been a pastor before my divorce. And 3 years after, I got married once more and I teach and preach in my local church. You know, all cases are different. If you want to receive some good advices from me on that, please e-mail me. I would like to talk to you in private and not on a public forum. I look forward to hear from you again. Richard (monric@sympatico.ca) |
