2 | Why did Job present the offerings? | Job 1:5 | Makarios | 11966 | ||
It could be that Job himself enjoyed these feasts also (and they could last up to a week), even though he did not know or have full knowledge of all of the things that his children were doing during these feasts. He could only consecrate them after, since making offerings to the Lord would abruptly end the feast. We are not given any information at all of the character of any of Job's children. All that we know is that Job himself made burnt offerings for them. Perhaps his children followed his example and made sacrifices themselves. The only thing that we can be certain of is that Job made restitution for them. Job was not under any law that permitted the offering for another person (I cannot find a single one), but he may have done this out of his sincerity and humbleness and the love in his heart for his family. |
