When did Satan fall from heaven? 'Answer: Satan’s fall from heaven is described in Isaiah 14:12-14 and Ezekiel 28:12-18. While these two passages are referring specifically to the king of Babylon and the King of Tyre, they also reference the spiritual power that was behind those kings - Satan. In regards to when Satan fell, these passages describe is why Satan fell, but they do not specifically say when the fall occurred. What we do know is this: the angels were created before the earth (Job 38:4-7). Satan fell before he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden (Genesis 3:1-14). Satan’s fall, therefore, must have occurred somewhere after the time the angels were created and before he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Whether Satan’s fall occurred a few minutes, hours, or days before he tempted Adam and Eve in the garden, Scripture does not specifically say. 'Why did Satan fall from Heaven? Satan fell because of pride. He desired to be God, not to be a servant of God. Notice the many "I will..." statements in Isaiah 14:12-15. Ezekiel 28:12-15 describes Satan as an exceedingly beautiful angel. Satan was likely the highest of all angels, the most beautiful of all of God's creations. Satan was not content in his position. Instead, Satan desired to be God, to essentially "kick God off His throne" and take over the rule of the universe. Satan wanted to be God, and interestingly enough, that is what Satan tempted Adam and Eve with in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5). How did Satan fall from Heaven? Actually, a fall is not an accurate description. It would be far more accurate to say that God cast Satan out of Heaven (Isaiah 14:15; Ezekiel 28:16-17).' ---------------------------------------- Related Topics: Can Satan read our minds / know our thoughts? If Satan fell from heaven before Eve's temptation, How do you account for Revelation 12:7-9: "There was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him"? | ||||||

Greetings Bauhinia and welcome to the forum. I had that same question years ago along with several other verses. Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. Tie that with Rev. 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. It was explained to me that Satan and all the fallen angels have already been judged but that Satan is going through the appeals process before his execution is carried out. I can’t verify that with scripture but it makes sense to me. But there is a time coming when his execution will be carried out and Satan knows when his numbers is up when the war takes place in heaven and he is grounded. Rev. 12:12-13 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. 13And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. (A reference to Israel and Christ Jesus) Satan will have his last hurrah by going after God’s elect knowing that his time is short. i.e. forty two months or three and a half years left. Rev. 12:12 (B) because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. The elect or saints will have their chance to suffer for the righteousness that they have in Christ and be accounted worthy when the following takes place. Rev. 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. Here is what is referred to as a near far application or type and antitype by those that suffer persecution. 2 Thes. 1:4-7 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: 6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, The saints of church of Thessalonica are a type of what will later take place with saints all over the Earth in the latter days after Satan is cast down. Jesus describes it this way, Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. CDBJ: You say, "It was explained to me that Satan and all the fallen angels have already been judged but that Satan is going through the appeals process before his execution is carried out." How does this explain Satan being "cast out" of heaven in the garden of Eden? Further, we read of "spirits"--angels--that disobeyed "in the days of Noah" being "held for judgment" and "bound with everlasting chains," making any appeal futile. (1 Peter 3:18, 19; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6) Its clear they still had access to heaven at the end of the 1st century AD at the very earliest, isn't it? And Revelation points forward!--Revelation 1:1, 19. |

Where does it say that those in Jude 6 are moving about? Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Compare that "specific group" with the following. Genesis 6:2-4 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Who were the sons of God? Type (sons of God) in the search box on the right side of the home page and you can spend hours researching the question. I'm not the one who isn't convinced you prove your point and I will believe you. God's Word, the Bible doesn't have any mistakesd in it so make what you're saying fit! Have fun, CDBJ |

CDBJ: They are the same group: angels, "sons of God." They were faithful angels who witnessed the creation of the earth in Job 38:4-7 and subsequently became disobedient in the days of Noah. Revelation 12:8, 9 mentions Satan and "his angels" being cast down to earth out of heaven, "no longer [was] a place found for them in heaven." What convinces you? |
