1 | Resurrection of 2 witnesses and Rapture? | Revelation | retxar | 13897 | ||
Hi Tim! I too "lean" toward the mid-trib, pre-wrath view, tho pre-trib seems posible to me also. The strongest evidence for me for mid-trib being correct is because the rapture of the church and the resurrection of God's 2 witnesses (Rev 11:12) would occur at the same time (the way I see it). If the 2 witnesses that God raises up are believers that are on earth at the time the antichrist begins his stuff, pre-trib does not work, because the 2 witnesses would be raptured with the church. I also know soverign God could leave 2 believers behind to do His work if He chose. The question this raises in my mind tho, is how this works out with Jesus coming as a "thief in the night" (Mat24:42-44, Mar 13:32-37, 1Th 4-5, etc.) Does this confirm mid-trib or put more weight toward pre-trib? Greetings Rextar! I concur with your points. I too think that the resurrection of the 2 witnesses can be identified with the rapture of the Church. Or maybe just prior to it. Either way, your comments are sound. Concerning the "thief in the night" passages, I'm not sure how they relate exactly to any of Revelation. Revelation gives so many indicators that it seems impossible that believers (pre or mid) will not have some indicate that the time is approaching. Maybe someone else has given this some thought! Tim, This passage may be helpful. 1 Thes. 5:1-9 (1) But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.(2) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (3) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.(4) But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.(5) Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.(6) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. (7)For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. (8) But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.(9)For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, The Bible never says that the day of the Lord will come upon the prepared, watching, faithful servant of God like a thief in the night. Most of the passages that use the phrase "thief in the night" refer to the servant that is not watching and ready, and says that the master is delaying his coming or will not come. In all the examples in the Bible that are types of the rapture or the return of the Lord, He always told them before the event happened. Noah and the flood, Lot being delivered for Sodom's destruction. (He also told Abraham). Notice that Paul tells them he does not need to write them about the seasons and times for they know perfectly well. We do to if we study scripture and pay attention. I know many people say we should not set dates, and this in no way tries to set dates. But I believe from reading the scripture, we can if, nothing else, know the season of His coming, it will not take us as a theif in the night. later...wdc |

Greetings Wdc! Excellent comments! There definitely is a fine line between date setting and being ready. I am definitely opposed to anyone who tries to set dates. They are clearly in opposition to Scripture in their attempts. But, as you pointed out, we should be aware of the times in which we live. I fully believe that Christ will return in my lifetime, so I try to be ready. However, I could be wrong! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
