1 | Exodus Generation Saved? | Hebrews | jatfla | 21570
Does anyone here consider the Exodus generation as believers? In our study of Hebrews, I am having a hard time.... I believe they were and therefore I consider most of the difficult questions in Hebrews as pertaining to our sanctification not salvation. I'm not wanting to get into a huge debate; just would like some feedback. I have a feeling I'm in the minority.
2 | Exodus Generation Saved? | Hebrews | Searcher56 | 21579
Scripture ... Hebrews 4, 11; Eph 2:8-9 ... Jatfla, the Exodus generation as a whole weren't saved. Neither are citizens of the USA. That isn't was saves us or saved them. It is faith, by grace that saves (Eph 2:8-9). Those in the OT had to look forward to Christ, we look back. The Exodus generation were saved when they passed through the Red Sea (Heb 11:29) ... Chapter 4 comes to mind, but I don't see salvation for the next generation. When we are saved we are set apart (sanctified). Hope this helps, Searcher |

I was under the impression that the generation that left Egypt and the one that went through the Red Sea and the one that wondered in the wilderness were, basically, the same "generation". Maybe that's the misconception. I see their salvation occuring at the time they obeyed God by placing the blood of a lamb on their doorposts, trusting that what God had promised about the deliverance of their first-born was true. I see this as their "and Abraham believed God and it was accredited to him as righteousness" time. That's why I said I believed the Wilderness generation was saved....if they were the same generation. Got to go back and check.
