1 | Walking before Him; "Hear Thou..." | 2 Chr 6:39 | Ray | 105356
Hi Makarios, It is good to hear from you. I do not want to sound like I am finding fault with the NASB translation. I am looking at the prayer of Solomon with the focus on interpretation rather than translation and the focus on the actual Hebrew and number of pronouns. You and I have talked about number of pronouns in the prayers of the Bible before. I remember talking about the High Priestly prayer in John 17 with you and how the pronouns were divisible by three to my mind. So it is with 2 Chronicles and Solomon's prayer. I am interested in "hear Thou" because it completes the total to nine and makes the prayer's total pronouns of Deity to be divisible by three. (We would have to talk further for you to see that total). Thank you for pointing out the ASV translation of 2 Chronicles 6:39 to me. From the heart, Ray |

2 | Walking before Him; "Hear Thou..." | 2 Chr 6:39 | Makarios | 105405
Greetings Ray! You are welcome! The 1901 American Standard Version is very helpful in studying the "thees" and "thous" of Biblical speakers.. Being more literal (and more current) than the KJV, the ASV is a valuable reference, even though it unfortunately is not in the practice of consistently capitalizing pronouns that refer to Deity. :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |
