You have to go back into chapter 3 to get the whole context of what he is saying. In vv. 4 and 5 Paul admonishes the Corithians. 4 For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men? 5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one Go on down to verse 21a...."So then let no one boast in men" Paul is telling the Corinthians to stop claiming superiority over other believers based on who they follow specifically or who they learned from. In other verses he supports this by claiming that we all belong to Christ and, basically, as men we matter not, except by what Christ can accomplish in and through us. God Bless, Aristarchus |
