1 | Acting according to the will of God. | Acts | Beja | 221501
Alyzza, God is able to use sinful actions to His own good purposes. One great example of this is Joseph's story in Genesis. If you recall, his brothers sold him into slavery. This ended with himm in egypt where God placed him in authority and warned them of the famine coming over the whole earth. Joseph said this about it in Genesis 50:20, "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive." So while God used their sin to bring about a good thing, that does not change the fact that what his brothers were doing was sinful. The cross is the same type of situation. Everybody who was crucifying our Lord was intending evil, but what they did not know is that they were playing right into the hand of God who meant it for good. So they are still fairly condemned for their actions, even though God intended it to happen. In Christ, Beja |

2 | Did God forgive them after Jesus asked? | Acts | alyzza | 221532
Thanks to everyone who helped me to sort things out. BradK, I read what you posted and am having an aha moment. Is that it then, that since Judas was not repentant then he sealed his own fate? If he had been repentant, he could have turned things around? I feel bad for having asked the question in the first place but can’t help but wonder if God forgave Judas and the rest after Jesus asked him to do so. Did he? Is there a passage in the Bible that says whether he did or didn’t? Or do I even have the right to know? I am reading the Bible chronologically and I’m now in the middle of Jeremiah. I think perhaps that I am jumping ahead of myself and that as I get farther along it will start to make sense. It’s a fault of mine, always jumping ahead. Beja, I jumped ahead and read Romans. Now I see and think the big picture will emerge after I’ve read All of the Bible. I probably haven’t even gotten to the answers for some of the questions I have. |

Hello alyzza, I'm glad that some of what I said, helped you to have an "aha moment":-) Again, Judas was remorseful, but as Matt. 27:5 notes, "...he went and hanged himself". As 2 Cor. 7:10 states, "Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation". This was NOT the case of Judas. Instead, he exhibited "the sorrow of the world (which) produces death". He commited suicide. From this- and other scriptures about him- I conclude that he was not saved. There is nothing I can find in scripture to give evidence otherwise. You ask a good question, "Did God forgive him"? But, no, God does not give second chances! Heb. 9:27 clearly states, "And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment" (NASB) I hope this helps, BradK |
