I have to tell a group of children of 8 to 12 about Holy Spirit (with reference to Chapter 1 of Apostle) in the coming Sunday. But I find it difficult how to explain Holy Spirit to them. Please enlighten me. Any short story about Holy Spirit is also welcome.
2 | Explain Holy Spirit to Children | Acts | 1-2steve | 148117
What book of the bible? Acts? Explain to them "how" the Holy Spirit now lives in us because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And that He promised a comforter (one who comes along side of)for the disciples because Jesus had to go prepare a place for us. So He gave us the Holy Spirit to be our helper, to let us know when we are about to make a bad choice. Ask them if their friends ever wanted to do something that was wrong, mean or the like ( If you don't steal this gum, you won't be my friend kind of thing). Then ask them how they felt when they had to make a decision. Did it seem like someone in their heart was telling them no? And explain to them that the Holy Spirit is our helper. He helps us to be able to say no to sin and to obey Jesus. |

4 | Explain Holy Spirit to Children | Acts | EdB | 148158
Most certainly you should reference Acts 1:1-11. this passage defines the fundamental purpose of the Holy Spirit to empower us to be Christ's witnesses throughout the world. Your emphasis to the children should be that the Holy Spirit is our companion. A friend, one sent to become our teacher, our comforter, and through Him we are empowered to boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. He if we allow Him will lead us to truth and spiritual certainties that are unobtainable otherwise. The Holy Spirit is with us in the dark of the night and when everyone else seems to have forsaken us. If we allow him He will guide us through life keeping us on the path of righteousness. Most of all the Holy Spirit will smother us in love when we find ourselves most unlovable. EdB |
