Dear Shoet, It is true, the gospels contain narrative. However, they are more than that. If you think about it as you read them there is quite a bit of interpretation of the narration. Consequently, its best to think of them as long sermons. After all, each of the gospel writers was addressing a particular audience with a particular objective in mind. The theologians describe the gospels as a kerygmatic record of the words and deeds of Christ. In other words, they represent more than just history, containing the teachings of the apostles as well.
