1 | Did God cause the tsunami | Mark | Higgy | 141385 | ||
As the Bible states, natural disasters will occur and that there will be rumours of wars, but these events will not happen all at once. I believe as Mark Ch 13vrs 1 - 37 notes such events will happen, as others that have happened before now. However we must be watchful and remain holy, ready for the Return of Jesus. As it is written such terrible events will occur before the end of times. But don’t worry; I don’t believe this to be an act of God. Before Jesus was sent to earth, God would have used such disasters to punish the wicked, but we are off the new way. We have been given the chance to ask for forgiveness in believing that Jesus came to earth and was crucified for our sins. In doing so those who believe in Jesus and try to obey Gods laws have nothing to fear. I just hope and pray that those who lost their lives in this tragic event where right with God. For no one knows the moment when our own life is to end. This world is a sinful world and the lord said our days on this earth would not be easy. That’s why we look forward to a New Heaven and a new earth, where such events won't happen. |

Hello Higgy, "But don’t worry; I don’t believe this to be an act of God. Before Jesus was sent to earth, God would have used such disasters to punish the wicked, but we are off the new way. " Can you provide scripture to support these statements? What do you mean by "we are of(f) the new way"? We may not understand why so many people were killed from many countries, but how do we know that it was not an act of God? Amos 3 6 If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it? 7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. "We have been given the chance to ask for forgiveness in believing that Jesus came to earth and was crucified for our sins. In doing so those who believe in Jesus and try to obey Gods laws have nothing to fear." Amen. Pastor Glenn |

Hi Pastor Glen, Ive been a christian since 2002, My understanding of the New Testament is that we no longer need to offer Scrafices to seek forgiveness from God, as Jesus dead to wash our sins away, if we believe in his suffering on the cross was for us and that he has been raised up from the dead we will be saved from his wrath. In this we are under Jesus judgement, at the end of the times. Therefore the new way, maybe not the correct terminology. But in the old testement God sent plagues and the great flood to wash away evil men from the face of the earth. However, Jesus has come to earth and died for our sins, but more importantly he has risen to give life to those who believe in him, but also he has been given the authority to judge ALL. Therefore why would God allow this act when he is a loving God, Concerned for All life. We have our chance to believe in the good news NOW. Its up to all to believe. In the new testament, it states let those who carry out evil to continue in their ways. A natural disaster is not going to change the thinking of evil men around the world. In this day and age the majority of people have the chance to hear the word of God, and also the chance to open thier hearts to it. God has given us life, but we have all eat from the apple of sin, therefore we are all accountable for the life we lead. Does Mark ch 13 not make it clear that certain signs must pass before the end of this world as we know it. I believe God may be saddened, much more than the people who witnessed such a large loss of life, for their may be many of these people who believed in a religion not based on scripture. In most of this region where the killer wave hit, christian churches exist in small numbers, but its up to the people of the land to decide whom they put their fiath into, should it be the one and only true God or some other earthly creation. I know my faith rests in the Lord. Amen |

Hello Higgy, "... Therefore why would God allow this act when he is a loving God, Concerned for All life." What if I told you that God killed two Christian people for lying to the Holy Spirit. What if I said that they were a married couple that conspired to tell the same lie. Would you believe that God really did that since, as you say, "He is a loving God"? Or would God simply wait until they died naturally years later? Also, what if a Christian child was continually disobedient to his parents all his life? Would you expect that God might shorten his life or let him live longer than normal to have more time to repent? Your Brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

Hi Pastor Glen, What you do in this life is judged when Jesus Returns, why Question me or try to trip me up. Do you believe God judges and punishes people for their sins once they commit them. If so Pastor Glen why would Jesus judge us for what we did in our life time. This is not a perfect world; we are cursed ever since ADAM and Eve eat from the tree of knowledge. Natural disasters are part of this imperfect world, that’s why this world will be consumed in the lake of fire, making the way for a New World and New Heaven. This is also why we have an AID’s epidemic in Africa and elsewhere in the world, or do think this is Gods doing?. We are on our last chance, to either accept Jesus as our saver and to look favour from our Lord on that Judgment day which we ALL will have to answer for our lives. Those in this world who persecute Christians are not struck down dead instantly for their deeds, the Lord will bring his revenge on the ungodly once we are all judged, and those who have committed such deeds will be thrown for eternity into the lake of fire. This very clearly recorded within the New Testament. I am disappointed that you as a Pastor have not grasped this fundamental truth. I think one of the problems now a days, is that many Christians are not reading the true word of God, Going back to basics, READING THE WORD OF GOD FIRST HAND FROM HIS BIBLE. Instead many are reading BOOKS written by others trying to explain the Word of God in their own terms. The Bible explains God’s Holy Word in Black and White and it is so clear to understand. AS I SAID “God is a loving God” he has given us time to repent, for God does not want to lose one soul to the devil. As Jesus said if a Shepard loses one sheep does he not leave the rest to search for that lost sheep? This is how great the Lords love is for us. But if we chose to go our own way through this world, then we can only accept to be punished for not accepting Jesus as our lord and master in this world and the next. I don’t mean to offend you with this reply, but I just can’t understand the content of your reply to me. |

Higgy, I don't see anything "wrong" with Pastor Glens' answer to you as its' stated. Don't take offense with it. There are different perpectives and understandings on these matters. As a newer believer, I'd be inclined to not be so harsh in offering up "what the problem is now days". Simply because you disagree with Pastor Glen doesn't call for the indirect remark that insinuates what someone isn't doing! You don't have enough facts to make that call:-) Now, I don't necessarily believe God directly caused this Tsunami- but certainly He in His Sovereign will allows these types of natural disasters to occur. (John 5:22) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hi BradK, Just a note to you and Pastor Glen, Im sorry if i was a bit critical of Pastor Glen. The most important point that I and All must remember, is that what ever happens in this World. Our Almighty Lord is still in Full Control. Praise be to God. Thank you, Believer in Jesus Christ. |
