1 | Problems with length of reigns of2 kings | 2 Kin 13:1 | Steve Upchurch | 92734
In 2 Kings 13:1 it states Jehoahaz became king of Israel in the twenty-third year of Joash (king of Judah) and that Jehoahaz reigned 17 years. However, then in 2 Kings 13:10 it states Jehoash became king of Israel in the thirty-seventh year of Joash. By my simple math if Jehoahaz became king in the twenty-third year of Joash, his reign would have ended in the 40th year of Joash and not the thirty-seventh! Can anyone shed some light on this as it’s causing me some problems!

Hey thanks for the help. I'm considering buying the book! I had initaially dismissed the idea that they were co-regents as 2 Kings 13:9 seams to imply Jehoash succeeded his father after he had died. That was me getting more from the verse than what is there.
